Let us first start with wishing you and your families all the best through the upcoming Fall / Holiday Season.
This is a reminder that in California, active Open Enrollment begins November 1st, 2017 and will run through January 31st, 2018. Covered California has already begun the process to passively renew your current plans and will do so up until November 11th. Please know, that we have time to make any additional changes up to December 15th for change date to be active January 1st, 2018.
Anthem Blue Cross: Many of our clients have received their cancellation notices from Anthem Blue Cross in several of the Counties throughout California effective December 31st, 2017. If your policy is through Covered California and you are receiving subsidy assistance, Covered California will automatically transition you into a different insurance company and it will be the next lowest plan that mirrors your current insurance. I would prefer to have a conversation with you to make sure that you informed enough with your choices. We have pulled everyone’s files that are affected in these Counties, please call our office when you have a few minutes of time with your schedules.
In regards to our clients that have Anthem Blue Cross Off the Exchange, then your policies will be discontinued on December 31st, 2017. Your plan will not be automatically transitioned. Therefore, it is imperative that we talk between now and December 15th so that you do not experience a lapse of coverage beginning January 1st, 2018.
Cigna: They are discontinuing their medical coverage as of December 31st, 2017. However, ALL Dental plans will remain active in 2018.
Health Net: Health Net has their rates released for their EPO Health Plans, however they will not release their rates for PPO until November 1st, 2017.
Kaiser is not going to change of the plans that were current in 2017. Everything will be the same for 2018.
Blue Shield will retain their same network of doctors and facilities going into 2018. They have decided to discontinue a plan that was available directly through them in 2017 which was called the Silver 3750. Any clients that had the Silver 3750, it is important to note that Blue Shield will transition those policy holders over to the Silver 1850 Off Exchange Plan. All remainder plans will stay the same going into 2018.
In regards to all of our clients that have Medicare Benefits, your plans will automatically renew into 2018. There is nothing that you need to do, unless you wish to take a look at your Part D prescription coverage. You have October 15th through December 7th to make any changes to your Part D coverage with an effective date of January 1st, 2018.
If you have questions about your Health Insurance Policy, then please take a moment to call my office so that we can discuss anything necessary so that you have a clear understanding of your choices going into 2018.
